  1. Information/feedback from students and colleagues:
*      “Awesome! I loved your classes; you made it interesting and were very informative.”

From a 9 grade student of English at the Joao Villaret School

*      Excelente comunicación con  los estudiantes, dio la impresión de que estaba allí porque quería ser, no porque tenía de hacerlo. Era obviamente apasionada por ensenar.

From a 9 grade student of Spanish at the Padre Antonio Vieira School

*      “I liked how you asked a number of questions throughout the lecture in an attempt to engage students in the learning process. One of the things that you did during your lecture to facilitate student learning was to ask students to complete sentences that you wrote on the board or said orally. . . . This really facilitates student learning.”

Statement from my head of department ,when evaluating me for my teaching practice.

Teaching Philosophy Statement

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
William Arthur Ward

My short term teaching goals

My short-term teaching goals involve being the best teacher that I can be. I aspire to be an understanding teacher; one who pays close attention to the emotional side of teaching while also adhering to my lesson objectives and learning goals so that all my pupils can achieve good grades and attain the skills and knowledge required.
I aim to be a proactive teacher and to plan my lessons in advance so that I have all my materials ready and organised for each lesson. I must always have a back-up plan in case I am in need of additional materials for different treatment of the same topic. I must endeavour to differentiate my lessons to suit the needs of the wide variety of learners that will enter my classroom. I will also encourage my students to be independent learners and to find information and solutions to problems on their own.
I will be a reflective teacher, who will consistently reflect on each lesson and think about how I can improve upon it. I will study my colleagues’ reflections in order to learn from them what they would do differently and discover where I can improve. I want to constantly become a better teacher through my reflections and through studying any weaknesses I, or my colleagues, may discern in my teaching. I will listen to and respect my colleagues’ perspectives and points of view. I aim to be as good a listener as I am a speaker, listening carefully to the recommendations of my colleagues, supervisors and pupils.
I want to use technology in my classroom and in my work to the greatest extent possible. I will use email for the speedy delivery of materials to pupils in order to keep them abreast of what is going on in class while saving paper. I also intend to design a blog so that parents and pupils are always aware of what is happening in terms of homework, tests, events and holidays. Pupils and parents will also be able to communicate with me via my blog or email.

My long term teaching goals

It is my wish to make use of, and to share, my knowledge with the teaching community around me to the highest degree possible, as I understand that the world is inter-reliant. It is only through a full realisation of this interdependence that we can all coexist and maximise our individual potentials and talents as teachers. I wish to be remembered as a teacher who has facilitated my pupils in realising the great potential that lies within each one of them. As the learning process never ends, I need to improve everyday; professionally as a teacher and colleague, and personally as a human being.
My long-term goals as a professional teacher involve keeping current through educational workshops and events, and creating of myself a well-developed teacher who is highly informed and up to date. I aim to keep myself up to date with the latest methods in education by attending teaching workshops and events during school breaks and vacations. I will also keep abreast of current events and phenomena so that I can be the best teacher that I can be.
I wish to get to know the technology that is available to my pupils and to keep up with the latest teaching techniques, methods and approaches in language education. I want to read more about learning and teaching theories in order to expand my understanding of how learning takes place.
I desire to create an impact by sharing my knowledge and life experience with future generations and to teach my pupils to find new knowledge on their own. I want to teach them the meaning of defining personal goals, both for the short-term and the long-term, and to serve as a living example. I will strive to be a teacher and to ensure that my strategies make me successful. I desire to be involved in the lives of future generations in an area in which I can make a positive impact on society.
Finally, I wish to experiment with different methods and approaches for presenting information in the classroom in order to improve the learning atmosphere I create for students. To do this, I will need to find a school where I can grow, continue to learn, take on increasing responsibilities, and be a positive contributor.
As I am very interested in research and teaching at post-secondary school levels, I wish to research and study methods and strategies based on student needs and learning problems in oral development as part of my post-graduate studies.
